Buick announces new Velite 6 hatchback

Premium American brand Buick officially announced the world premiere of a new serial hatchback Velite 6 , intended for the Middle Kingdom. The public debut of the 5-door model will take place on April 17 this year.

Currently, the manufacturer has published the only image of the new serial model Buick Velite 6 , which shows a piece of the back of the car. Judging by the image, the production car will not differ much from the concept of the same name, which debuted in 2016.

Recall, the Buick Velite conceptual model was developed at the PATAC (Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center) scientific and technical center, which is part of the joint venture of the Chinese division of General Motors and the SAIC concern. The prototype was equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The company has not declassified the detailed characteristics of the concept.

It is also worth recalling that earlier the American brand introduced the serial hatch Buick Velite 5, which is a turned copy of the Chevy Volt model. The equipment of this machine includes a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine, two electric motors for 118 and 65 hp, an electromechanical variator and a battery of 18 kW / h. The stock of the hybrid is about 768 km. Cruising range on electric traction – about 116 km.

The Buick Velite 5 Hybrid is currently only available in China. Most likely, the new Buick Velite 6 model will also be offered exclusively in the Middle Kingdom.
