Brand Buick has published the first teaser image of the new generation Verano sedan. The official debut of the new items will be held on April 19 on the eve of the opening of the Shanghai Motor Show.
The new generation of Buick Verano will be made in the style of the concept cars Riviera and Avenir . In Europe, the model will be sold in a converted version under the name Opel Astra.
No details about the production model have been disclosed. The official press release says that the four-door will give its owner a new driving experience, high performance, as well as an elegant and cozy interior.
According to unofficial data, the sedan will be powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, developing 118 horsepower in the atmospheric version and 170 in a turbocharged one. A six-speed manual gearbox will be installed in pair with it.
Judging by the image, the Buick Verano will receive elongated rear doors, an increased wheelbase, and, consequently, a more spacious interior for rear seat passengers. Like the new generation Opel Astra sedan, as well as the Chevrolet Cruze version for China, the new product will be built on the lightweight D2XX platform. The length of the new sedan will be 60 millimeters longer than its predecessor (the wheelbase will increase to 2.7 meters by 15 millimeters).
